This new joint AAPA/RNZ publication is a guide to the process of design and approval of an asphalt job mix. It doesn't attempt to introduce any new procedures, but provides a guide to the preparation of asphalt mix designs to meet existing specification criteria and a guide to the cost-effective use of characterisation tests to satisfy performance attributes for particular application. 28 pages.
|IG7 - Comparison of Pavement Alternatives|
This Guide provides assistance with the comparison of alternative pavement designs and complements the Guide to the Selection and Design of Flexible Pavements (IG-6). It provides information on both the quantifiable and non-quantifiable issues that impact on long term pavement performance and provides a methodology for quantifying, as far as possible, whole-of-life costs. The Guide also contains information on likely maintenance diaries and routine and periodic maintenance costs. Part of this methodology includes a risk assessment procedure to assist in maximising the reliability of the final selection.
